It is our great pleasure to invite you to participate in the 7th CROATIAN SYMPOSIUM on Renal Replacement Therapy, DiaTransplant 2018, organized by University Hospital Center Rijeka, Faculty of Medicine, University of Rijeka, Croatian Society of Nephrology, Dialysis and Transplantation of Croatian Medical Association and Croatian Association of Nurses - Nephrology, Dialysis and Transplantation Section, under the auspicies of the Croatian Academy of Medical Sciences.

We truly believe in the Symposium success because of the selected topics which are of special interest in the field of Renal Replacement Therapy. In the scientific program, you will find numerous distinguished nephrologists and other medical specialists in the multidisciplinary fields related to nephrology.

The Symposium will be held in Opatija, Croatia, October 11-14, 2018.

This Symposium, already traditional, is going to be a permanent witness of the new scientific developments. Wherever you work, use the opportunity to break away from your daily routine and to discover new approaches, connect to colleagues and return home full of new knowledge, ideas and work motivation.

The emphasis will be on the "state of art" lectures and clinical aspects of hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, kidney transplantation, rare diseases – Fabry disease through dedicated international satellite symposium.

DiaTransplant 2018 is going to bring together distinguished clinicians and experts from Croatia and abroad to present and discuss recent discoveries in these fields.

You are heartily invited to contribute to the success of DiaTransplant 2018 with a presentation of your work and your abstracts are very much appreciated. Young colleagues and students are specially invited to participate in the scientific program.

Of course, we also want to emphasize the beauty of Opatija, the pearl of the Mediterranean, offering friendly and welcoming atmosphere within its hystoric architecture and rich culture. My kindest regards to all of you until we meet in Opatija!

The Technical Organizer has reserved hotel rooms for the delegates. Hotel accommodation is booked on a first-come, first served basis. The Symposium will be organized in a form of plenary lectures, oral presentations, satellite symposia, workshops, and posters. Oral presentations may be in Croatian or English.

Participants who would like to give an oral or poster presentation should submit an abstract for consideration by the Scientific Committee who will determine whether the abstract will be accepted for an oral or poster presentation. The abstracts should be submitted in Croatian or English, and will be published in the Book of Abstracts.

The presenting author is required to ensure that all co-authors are aware of the content of the abstract before submission to the Congress agency, Conventus Credo, and of all communications thereafter.

Instructions for writing abstracts

  • abstracts should be written in Croatian or English 
  • abstract length: up to 300 words
  • abstract font: Arial 10 pts
  • abstract headline should be capitalized Arial 12 pts
  • name of the author who will present the paper should be capitalized
  • author's and co-author's last name and first name initial without titles
  • author's and co-author's institution, city, and country
  • author's e-mail address
  • up to 10 co-authors
  • abstract text: goals, materials and methods, results, conclusion
  • linguistic accuracy is the responsibility of the author
  • previously published abstract will not be accepted

Instruction for submitting abstracts

Abstracts should be submitted only via the online submission form here.

Please, follow the instructions step-by-step. Please, do not submit multiple copies of the same abstract. 

You will receive a confirmation that your abstract has been forwarded for review indicating the abstract number which it has been allocated. Please, refer to the abstract number in all correspondence regarding the abstract.

Instructions for speakers 

  • Plenary lectures: 20 minutes
  • Invited lectures: as indicated in the program
  • Oral presentations of the best papers: 7 minutes for presentation + 3 minutes for discussion 

Technical equipment

We kindly ask all speakers to hand over their presentations to the Congress agency technician at least two hours prior to their lecture. 


Poster presentations: Electronic form and presentation – MS Office PPT or PDF versions are acceptable.

  • Physicians: € 335
  • Residents, nurses and technicians members of HUMS: € 200
  • Nurses and technicians non members of HUMS: € 215
  • Accompanying person: € 175

  • Students: free of charge

Registration fee includes: admission to all congress sessions, poster and exhibition areas, Congress materials: Program, abstracts, congress bag, ID card, Welcome reception, Congress dinner, lunches, coffee breaks


All refund requests must be submitted in writing to the Congress agency Conventus Credo and must be postmarked by September 15, 2018. Reimbursement of the fee less an administrative charge of 10% and VAT (25%) will be refunded after the Congress. Cancellations received after September 15, 2018 will not be refunded.


During the Symposium, we will organize an industrial exhibition of manufacturers of equipment, devices and products as well as of other companies related to renal replacement therapy and other forms of treatment. Companies interested in advertising their products at the exhibition and in the congress materials should contact the Congress agency.

Registration desk

The Registration Desk will open half an hour before the beginning of the sessions and close half an hour after the end of the sessions. 

Letter of Invitation

The Organizing Committee will issue the Letter of Invitation upon request to be used for visa application and for your employer. Please, send your request to the Congress agency’s e-mail: 

Official badges

All registered participants with registration fee paid will get Congress badges (ID cards) and are obligated to wear them during the scientific and social program.


The Organizing Committee cannot accept responsibility for accidents or damage to participants or accompanying persons before, during or after the Symposium. Participants are urged to make their own arrangements with respect to travel and health insurance. Upon registration, the participant accepts this provision.

Mobile phones

Participants are kindly requested to keep their mobile phones in off position in the halls where scientific sessions are being held. 


Internet services will be available to all participants during the Symposium.

Certificate of Attendance

A Certificate of Attendance will be issued to all registered participants.
